OKX
Automate an OKX account
you already hold
OKX keys are passphrase-scoped, which adds a step at setup and a layer at rest. The rest behaves like any other venue: trade scope only, own limits, no custody.

The connection
What we ask for, and what we refuse.
Passphrase-scoped keys
The passphrase is stored encrypted alongside the key and is required for every call. Losing it invalidates the connection rather than degrading it.
Encrypted at rest
Trade permission only
The key you create carries trade permission. Vectorhelm places and cancels orders and does nothing else.
Trade scope only
Revocable from your side
Revoke at OKX and routing stops.

OKX specifics
The passphrase, and other OKX details.
OKX uses a third credential that the other venues do not, and its margin model has one setting that changes how a strategy behaves.
The passphrase is a third credential
OKX keys are key, secret and a passphrase you choose at creation. All three are needed to sign a request, and the passphrase cannot be recovered — only replaced by making a new key.
Three parts
Rotating it invalidates the connection
Changing the passphrase at OKX does not update it here. The connection stops authenticating until you supply the new one, which is the correct behaviour but surprises people.

Margin mode changes sizing
Cross and isolated margin size the same order differently, and switching mode with a position open is not always permitted by the venue. Decide it before deploying, not after.
Cross / isolated
settleCoin on derivatives
Contracts settle in a specific currency, and a balance in the wrong one will not margin the position. Worth checking when an order is rejected despite an apparently funded account.
Settlement
Set the passphrase once, on demo.
Connect OKX to a demo account, route a strategy, and confirm the credentials and margin mode behave the way you expect.
